Our Story

Darn Cheap Fabrics is a retailer of quality fabric and trims. Branching off our design, development and wholesale business, Darn Cheap Fabrics draws on a close relationship with designers and manufacturers in the international fashion industry, allowing us to bring you the latest trends in colour, print, fabrication and style at the best possible price. Our fabrics and trims, many featuring our original designs, are much-loved by a host of Australian designer clothing labels. The only thing cheap about us is our prices!

Darn Cheap Fabrics has been operating for over 30 years, with our retail stores in Glenhuntly and Fitzroy being a popular destination for sewers from all over Victoria. However, we know many of you cannot come in to our stores, so we have decided to share our product range to the world via our online store darncheapfabrics.com.au!

We have always been known for our excellent customer service. All our retail staff are experienced and passionate sewers, and most have worked in our stores for over 5 years, with several of our staff approaching 20 years service with us! A major reason for our enduring success is that our prices are amazing given the quality of our products. Much of our stock is fashion fabric and trims. We love fashion! And we love providing you with the latest looks. We love nothing better than to sell our stock quickly, so that we can make way for even more new stock! Our pricing is up to half that of normal retail on first quality, current season fabrics, purely because we want you to buy it… so that we can buy more cool stuff!

Darn Cheap Fabrics also stock a large range of basics: knits, wovens, cottons, silks, wools, linens, and much more, as well as American patchwork fabrics  and all the extras you may need for your patchwork projects, such as waddings and markers. We sell an extensive range of haberdashery, and also patterns from independent Australian designers, In the Folds, Megan Neilsen and vandenBerg and big brands McCalls, Burda, New Look and Simplicity.
