Hello Online World of Fabrics!
We have decided to start a blog to keep all our lovely customers up to date with our latest fabrics, trims, haby and even some sewing ideas!
But first let us introduce ourselves.
Darn Cheap Fabrics was first opened by Lauren in 1988. Since opening Lauren has used her knowledge from working in the fashion industry to be able to bring the most current fashion fabrics at wholesale pricing to the retail market. The only thing cheap about us is the prices!
From our first store we have grown into 3 retail stores and an online store. We keep these stores full to the brim with the latest fashion fabrics, trims, haberdashery and patchwork cottons. All our staff are hired because of their knowledge in sewing and fabric, so if you’re ever after advice do not hesitate to ask!
As for who is writing this blog, my name is Hayley – I run our online store, manage the retail stores and if you’ve ever messaged us on instagram then you’ve been speaking with me! I have a love of fashion and studied my bachelors in fashion design, working for fashion labels in New York, Sydney & Melbourne. Working at Darn Cheap Fabrics is a dream, being around fabric all day and seeing all the beautiful things our customers make. In my spare time I run my own Pattern and Ready-to-Wear brand van den Berg. You may have seen my patterns in store and made up as samples on display.
What to expect in this blog:
Fabrics, Fabrics, Fabrics
As our name might suggest we are all about fabrics and bringing you the best quality fabrics at the best price! We stock a wide range of wovens, knits, patchwork, sequins, lace, the list goes on. As we often source our fabrics from designers we may only have a small pieces available, these fabrics sadly don’t end up online – but with this blog hopefully we can showcase some of our favourite products available online or in store only.
Trims and Braids
Lauren designs her own range of trims and laces, keeping up with modern trends and latest runway stylings. Trims can be a nice way to add to any garment, whether you are up-cycling something old or creating something new. New trims are always arriving, and we will be keeping you up to date with the latest ranges.
Sometimes knowing where to start with a fabric or trim can be hard. So, we plan to give you some fun project ideas to keep the creative juices flowing. When choosing fabrics, we look to the latest runways, we will do the same when choosing projects. Finding the perfect fashion forward project to match our latest products. Hopefully our project ideas will inspire you and give some fun ideas of what to make next!
